NEXT COUNCIL MEETING
Midtown Ventura Community Council
Cooper Hall at Grace Church, 65 MacMillan Avenue
March 14, 2024, 7 p.m.
The Midtown Ventura Community Council, MVCC, will hold their next virtual General meeting this Thursday, October 8 at 7 p.m.
First up, Ventura Police Commander Darrick Brunk will be introduced as our new MVCC Liaison.
Sabrena Rodriguez, Ventura Unified School District Trustee, District 2, and current Board President, will spend explain local Measure H, which is on the November 3 ballot.
Before the General Plan workshop, MVCC will ask for a ratification of the current Board of Directors through our normal election in March. Due to no in person meetings since last March we need to formalize our continuation of officers.
The rest of their meeting is a type of stakeholder session which all the local community councils have been weighing in on for the future of what Ventura may look like. The MVCC previously received input from our members. (Notes are here.)
The City of Ventura is at the beginning stages of preparing an update to the General Plan and Local Coastal Plan. The General Plan is the city's constitution for growth and conservation. It addresses topics including land use, growth and development, transportation, parks and open space and other topics that are critical to continuing the high quality of life in Ventura.
As part of this process, the City's consultant (Raimi + Associates) will attend Midtown Ventura Community Council Meeting to provide background information on General Plans, provide an overview of the purpose of the General Plan update process and lead a discussion on community strengths, issues and opportunities for improvement.
While this is the first of many General Plan meetings, it is an important opportunity to share your ideas as the City begins this important process. Please come prepared with questions and your thoughts on the Midtown area and the city as a whole. They look forward to (virtually) seeing you then.
The virtual meeting will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. You must register ahead of time for the meeting to be able to participate by going to the website.
