Proposed Midtown Commons Park (Interactive Picture, place mouse over image to see a proposed plan)
Midtown Ventura needs additional green open spaces for children to play, public events, relaxation or just a place to enjoy lunch. We, the Midtown Ventura Community Council are collaborating with the city, public and local businesses to create such an open area we can all enjoy.
The city parking lot above sits between Katherine and Hartman Drive
and we feel this underutilized lot is perfect for a change, why not a park! As we realize that our cities need to be not only more sustainable but also create environments that foster good health and quality of life, this site has the potential to re-green and improve the Midtown community and businesses and create a much needed public space.
It wouldn't take much for this to happen and we have already done a lot. The city is very interested in this site not only as a place to improve Midtown but also to treat stormwater runoff from the surrounding area, which will help keep our oceans clean. Many conversations have been had with people from all walks of life and time and time again people express how much they would like to see this park happen.
We need your input. We need your help. Write or call and together we can make this a reality for our community. Suggestions, comments, feedback, design ideas, and skill offerings are much appreciated.
