Loma RockWe need all hands on deck this Saturday, July 19, at Loma Vista School for our Adopt-A-School project.

Volunteers are needed to help move mulch and shale as work on the California Coastal Native Garden continues. Work starts at 8 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m. Volunteers can give any amount of time.

The work we’ll be undertaking this weekend includes: Setting pathway borders, sheet mulch landscape areas, sheet and shale swales, install shale in paths and compact, dig fence post holes and set posts. We’ll also plant native grasses in the auditorium planter and remove nascent weeds.

With so much work to complete, lots of volunteers and wheelbarrows are needed.

The goal is to have the California Coastal Native Garden completed in September but it will take lots of volunteers to make it happen. A fence, benches and plantings will be added in subsequent volunteer days.

If you can’t make it Saturday, there are still opportunities to volunteer. We’ll have volunteer days on August 16 and September 6. Please help out with this worthwhile project.
